Indications:
Amoxicillin mainly uses for treatment the infections caused by gram positive and negative bacteria which susceptible to penicillin. It is suitable to cure the diseases in poultry and livestock: fevers, losses of appetite, constipation, be laid up, short of breath and abdominal breath. Amoxicillin is semisynthetic broad-spectrum penicillin with a bactericidal effect against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is used in the treatments of gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infections caused by amoxicillin sensitive micro-organisms, like Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, E. coli, Erysipelothrix, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, penicillinase negative Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp. in calves, cattle, goats, sheep, and swine.
Usage and administration:
Intramuscularly or subcutaneously injection. For livestock 5 - 10mg amoxicillin on 1kg body weight, one time daily; or 10 - 20mg per 1kg body weight, one time for two days.
Pharmacological action:
To the gram positive bacteria such as streptococcus, staphylococcus, clostridium, corynebacterium, genus erysipelothrix, actinomycetes, listeria spp and other function similar to the penicillin. To many kinds of gram negative bacteria, such as brucella, bacillus proteus, pasteurella, salmonella, E. coli and haemophilus, it has bacteriostatic and bactericidal action. The ability of penetration into cell wall is stronger, can suppress the synthesis of cell wall of bacterium, causes the bacterium rapidly to become the ball physique to burst, then dissolution, therefore compares with ampicillin to the many kinds of bacteria, the bactericidal action is rapidly and stronger.
Side effect and contraindication:In individual domestic livestock may appears allergy reaction, as oedema but rare.
Precaution:Should not be use for animal which allergy to penicillin. Shake well before use.
Withdrawal time:
Slaughter: 28 days; milk 7 days; egg 7 days.
Keep out of the touch of children, and store in the cool place.
Store at a temperate below 25°C.
Protect from light.
Store in a dry place.

Dosage and Adminstration: |
Shake well before use Cattle and Sheep : By intramuscular route only . Dogs : By subcutaneous only. The recommended dosage rate is 5-10mg amoxicillin per kg/bw, one time daily ; or 10-20mg per 1kg bw, one time for two days . The maximum injection volume at any site is : Cattle : 15ml sheep : 3ml dogs : 1.8ml Route of administration: intramuscularly. The usual dose is 10mg of amoxicillin per kg live body weight per day or 1ml per 15kg live body weight per day. |
